The writer at home - L. Place
Writing is not easy, but it is a lot of fun! I started writing for my local town newspaper The Maynard Beacon as a high school correspondent back in 1989. I wrote some short stories and poems during my time at Suffolk University and a few were published in Venture, Suffolk's literary magazine. I achieved a Masters in Elementary Education from Salem State University in 2008.
In the last few years most of my energy has been taken up by teaching, and most of my writing has been modifying quizzes and tests for special education students.
I have been an avid reader of history since I could read, and I am very interested in writing about history, especially military history. I find battles horrible and fascinating at the same time. The death and destruction is horrible, but the strategy, tactics and logistical problems are very interesting to explore. I am also interested in politics, geography, and the study of commodities and natural resources. I like to read the international news daily and I try to keep a sense about what is happening on each continent, and how one event affects another. These are some of things I am interested in writing about going forward.
I love drama, and while I don't go to movies much anymore I truly appreciate fine films with fine actors and actresses.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, taking care of my dogs and cats, gardening, drawing, walking, photography, baking, and redecorating my house.
